Small catalogue for the last solo exhibition of Aubrey Williams’ work during his lifetime. (He was to die a few months into 1990, the year following this exhibition). The catalogue was produced to accompany/mark the exhibition. From the catalogue’s flyleaf: “The 8 acrylics reproduced in this catalogue were painted in London in 1989 and exhibited at the October Gallery in November/December of the same year.”

Within his introduction, Denis Bowen writes “Painters with whom [Williams] has found affinities, such as Pollock, Gorky, Matta, DeKooning, Tamayo and Alan Davie appeal to his own sense of symbology, movement and colour and it is not surprising that Alan Davie spends much time at Aubrey’s Santa Lucia Studio in the Caribbean.”

The catalogue is a useful and valuable document as it contains, as mentioned, eight reproductions of Williams’ later work, which is seldom reproduced so substantially.

Catalogue contents as follows:

Introduction ‘The Work of Aubrey Williams’, by Denis Bowen, London.

Eight colour plates.
