From the press text: “British painter Chris Ofili has distinguished himself as one of the most innovative young artists working in Britain today. He has recently been nominated for the 1998 Turner Prize for his acclaimed exhibition at Southhampton City Art Gallery, organised in partnership with the Serpentine. This, the first solo exhibition of his work in London, brings together approximately twenty-five paintings created over the past six years - showcasing his eclectic approach to his art since he graduated from the Royal College of Art in 1993.”
