Title: Lubaina Himid | Chisenhale Gallery
An extract from the review: “History is highly subjective, with historians leaving out or elaborating facts; one of the biggest omissions is black history, which is little acknowledged in text books, and only represented in museums as anthropology or ethnography, perceived with white Western (mostly male) eyes. The Ballad of the Wing is Lubaina Himid’s response to this prejudice, using the wing as a symbol of black creativity.”
