Debbie Hursefield had work included in Double Vision: An exhibiton of contemporary Afro-Caribbean art, held at Cartwright Hall, Bradford, 8 November 1986 - 4 January 1987. Within the Double Vision poster/brochure, the text on Hursefield included “Debbie Hursefield is another of the young generation of Afro-Caribbean artists who in their search for self-awareness and identity direct their vision to Africa. Her most recent works reflect a developing interest in African (Adinkera) symbolism: ‘I have tried to retain this ancient form of communication, but using it in a twentieth century context. relating it to my own social consciousness, politics, religion and literature.’”
