Sir Jacob Epstein was an American-born British sculptor. His bust of Paul Robeson was included in the exhibition Rhapsodies in Black: Art of the Harlem Renaissance, which toured to galleries in the UK and the USA in 1997 and 1998. The bust has been used to illustrate several record sleeves of recordings of Robeson’s music. Another bust of this great American singer, actor of stage and screen, and campaigner for civil rights and human dignity was undertaken by the Jamaican-born sculptor, Ronald Moody.
