Born, 1931 in Rome
Painter, based in New York, USA
From askart.com website: “A native of Rome, Carlo Mariani creates large-scale canvases filled with beautiful appearing laurel crowned maidens and reclining nudes. Referred to as ‘exalted eerie’, it is work that both resembles Old Master allegorical paintings and contains symbols of modern society in surreal juxtapositions. His quest is for ideal beauty, but he is much aware that it is increasingly difficult to find.
He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and was much influenced by hyper realism and conceptualism. From 1994, he has lived in New York City. He has also painted landscapes in traditional style.”
